Il arrive à Hollywood en 1930. D'abord directeur musical et arrangeur, il signe ses premières partitions en 1931 pour "Les Artistes Associés". Il la quitte en 1939, après avoir signé cette même années des coups d'éclats comme "GUNGA DIN" et "LES HAUTS DE HURLEVENTS". Il entre à la "20th Century Fox" et se spécialise dans les films noirs et les épopées grandisoses. Il conclut sa filmographie prolixe avec "AIRPORT". Alfred est le premier d'une longue famille de musiciens que sont les NEWMAN. Il y a aussi Lionel, son frère (Et Emil, son autre frère moins connu). En ce qui concerne sa descendance : Randy (Qui est aussi chanteur), David (Cousin de Randy), Thomas (Cousin de Randy et frère de David). |
